Fani Loss pegged at Rs 9336 Cr; Odisha seeks Rs 5228 Cr from Centre

Nation First News: The Odisha Government has pegged the total loss due to Cyclone Fani at Rs 9,336 Crore. That includes loss to public properties at Rs 6,643.63 Crore & relief measures worth Rs 2,692.63 crore.

As the total loss to public properties and requirement of funds for relief measures stand at Rs 9,336 Core, the State Govt has sought an assistance of Rs 5227.68 crores from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).

The Centre had already announced Rs 1,341 Crore for Cyclone Fani affected Odisha. The state government has so far released Rs 1357.14 crore from SDRF towards relief and restoration work.

The assessment of losses due to Cyclone Fani was made across 20,367 villages in 14 districts. 1.6 crore people and 1.88 lakh hectares of crop areas have been affected by Cyclone Fani.

A total of 5,56,761 houses were either fully or partially damaged, while 64 people lost their lives. 2,650 large animals, 3,631 small animals and 53,26,905 poultry birds were killed during the Cyclone that struck Odisha on May 3.
