Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill, 2019 passed in Lok Sabha


Nation First News: The Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill 2019 has been passed in Lok Sabha today.

The amendment reduced the tenure of chairpersons of both National and State Human Rights bodies from five years to three years.

The Bill also suggested that besides a former Chief Justice of India, a former Supreme Court judge can also become National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) chairperson.
