NF Bureau: Odisha got its first-ever high performance sports training and rehabilitation centre, as CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the ‘Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance’ (ABTP) at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. 2008 Olympics Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra and Odisha Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera were present at the occasion.
“ABTP establishment will create easy access to all sportspersons of Odisha and its neighboring states to world-class equipment,” tweeted Department of Sports and Youth Services.
Abhinav Bindra hailed the Odisha Govt with a tweet, “A great step thanks to the vision displayed by the Odisha Government. We look forward to work with athletes from the state to help realise their potential”.
The ABTP centre will offer services such as performance enhancement, injury prevention, and management, bio-mechanics, physiology testing and training, recovery, along with strength and conditioning training. As many as 20 sportspersons can train at the centre in a day.
The MoU in this regard was signed between the Rungta Mines Ltd and Abhinav Futuristic Pvt Ltd in November 2018 in the presence of CM Naveen Patnaik.
