BJD’s Women Push: 3 MP, 10 MLA Candidates

NF Bureau: As part of his 33% women empowerment push in Lok Sabha, BJD President Naveen Patnaik has fielded 3 women candidates in the 9 Lok Sabha seat that would go to polls on April 11 and 18.

The most notable selection is Pramila Bisoi, a common woman of SHG Group. She would contest from Aska Lok Sabha seat. Naveen termed her selection as a tribute to ‘Mission Shakti’ and ‘Women Empowerment’.

In Koraput Lok Sabha seat, Kaushalya Hikaka, wife of Jhina Hikaka has been chosen. Sunita Biswal, daughter of Congress veteran Hemananda Biswal, got the nod from Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat.

For the Assembly, Naveen has chosen 10 Women candidates out of the 54 names announced today. Notable among them are Kalyani Gajapati (Paralakhemundi), daughter of Parala Maharaja and Manjula Swain (Aska), widow of late Ladu Kishore Swain.

Khalikote – KK Suryamani Baidya
Titlagarh – Tukuni Sahu
Attabira – Snehangini Chhuria
