CBSE Exam Fee Hike: Odisha CM urges Union Minister to review decision


Nation First News:  Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed shock over the 24 times hike in examination fees for Class-X and Class-XII students.

In a letter to Union Human Resource Development Minister Dr R P Nishank, the CM requested to reconsider the hike in CBSE exam fees that causing resentment among parents and other stakeholders.

The abnormal rise, specifically of the fees in respect of SC & ST students by 24 times has come as a shock,” the CM wrote in the letter.

“You may know that Odisha Government has opened more than 200 English Medium Model Schools affiliated to CBSE in rural areas for the benefit of economically and socially underprivileged sections of the society. This decision is bound to result in acute hardship to them,” the Chief Minister mentioned.

Delhi Chief Minister & AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in support of Odisha Government’s decision on CBSE exams fee hike.

Worth mentioning that, CBSE has increased the fees of Class X and XII board examinations from Rs 750 to Rs 1,500 for five subjects.

The SC/ST students, who were paying Rs 350, will now be supposed to pay Rs 1,200 for the same.
