Centre sanctions Food processing projects for 32 States/UT; 10 for Odisha


Nation First News:  The Centre has sanctioned as many as 10 food processing units for Odisha under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY).

The projects include two cold storages, two mega food parks, two backward and forward linkages and two food labs.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Rameswar Teli, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, stated that with the investment of Rs 31,400 crore the Government expects to generate around 334 lakh MT agro-produce valuing Rs 1,04,125 crore by the year 2019-20.

Under PMKSY Government has sanctioned projects for as many as 32 States and Union Territories (UT) that will benefit 20 lakh farmers and generate 5,30,500 direct/ indirect employment in the country by the year 2019-20.
