NF Bureau: Good news for flyers in Western Odisha as SpiceJet is going to launch regular flight operations from the Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport in Jharsuguda from March 31.
The airlines will connect Jharsuguda with key metro cities with the introduction of daily direct flights on Jharsuguda-Delhi-Jharsuguda, Jharsuguda-Hyderabad-Jharsuguda and Jharsuguda-Kolkata-Jharsuguda sectors.
Booking of tickets for travelling in the airline started from today. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan & Civil Aviation (MoS) Jayant Sinha inaugurated ticket booking at an event held in Delhi today.
VSS airport will soon connect to Delhi, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Raipur under UDAN 3.
A new Airport at Rourkela will be connected to Raipur & Bhubaneswar. Rs 160Cr has been sanctioned for development of Airports at Jharsuguda, Jeypore, Utkela & Rourkela, taking the cumulative spending to over Rs 1200 crore for developing air connectivity. said Union Minister Pradhan.
