India storm into Semifinals of CWC 2019; Bangladesh out of World Cup
Nation First News: Team India became the second team after Australia to qualify for the semifinals of Cricket World Cup 2019. They defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs to take their total points to 13 from 8 matches.
Australia have 14 points from as many games. Bangladesh are officially out of the World Cup.
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite a good start of 180/0 in 29.1 overs, India batted poorly in the last 15 overs and finished at 314/9 in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma scored his 26th ODI hundred and 4th in this World Cup. He made 104.
Rahul (77), Kohli (26), Pant (48) and Dhoni (35) were the other top scorers. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur took 5 wickets.
Chasing a victory target of 315, Bangladesh tried hard, but could manage 286 in 48 overs.
Tamim (22), Soumya Sarkar (33), Shakib (66), Rahim (24), Liton (22), Sabbir (36) and Saifuddin (51*) were the top scorers. For India, Pandya took 3 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets. Rohit Sharma was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
