Nation First News: In a spectacular match, India on Wednesday defeated West Indies by six wickets in the first T20 International of the three-match series.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and choose to bowl first. The West Indies team recorded a total of 157/7 in 20 overs. India successfully chased down 158 runs target with seven balls to spare.
Nicholas Pooran, the highest fetched deal of 10.75 crore in the IPL mega auction from WI was in form with 61 off 43 balls. Kyle Mayers with 31 off 24 balls gave the team motivation and Kieron Pollard with 24 off 19 remained not out.
India raised a score of 50 in the first 5 overs. Opener Ishan Kishan and Captian Rohit Sharma boosted the match with 35 off 42 balls and 40 off 19 balls respectively.
Suryakumar Yadav showed another impressive show with 34 off 18 (not out) and helped India to close the contest comfortably.
Bowler Ravi Bishnoi had a dream debut ,two for 17 in four overs. Harshal Patel snapped two for 37 , while leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (1/34) and pace bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/31) and Deepak Chahar (1/28).
