NF Bureau: As Odisha gears up for the assembly elections along with 2019 general elections, a team of Election Commission of India (ECI), who is in the State reviewed the preparations. The team that met representatives from political parties yesterday, met the Chief Secretary and DGP today.
The EC team confirmed that a Citizen Vigilance App will be launched to address issues faced by the voters. Status of the grievances will be notified within 100 minutes, they said. In order to ensure free and fair polls, the App would have the feature allowing people to lodge complaint with photographs.
Odisha DGP Dr. RP Sharma has informed the media that security will be tightened in Maoist-infested and bordering areas in coordination with officials from the neighbouring states. The cops will keep a strict vigil to check illegal flow of cash during the elections, he added.
