Odisha Govt revises Medical Service Bond Policy; hikes penalty amount

Nation First News:  In view of scarcity of doctors in the State, the Odisha Government on Friday revised Service Bond Policy for Medical Students.

As per the revised policy, students studying MBBS in state-run medical colleges will be bound to serve under Government for a period of two years, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das today.

However, if any student show unwillingness to stay in Odisha & serve under State Government for stipulated period, they will have to pay requisite compensation. While, PG students need to pay Rs 1.5 crore, those pursuing specializations need to deposit Rs 2 crore,’ said Naba Das.

The decision was taken in the wake of a majority of students leaving the State after completing their post-graduation.

It may be mentioned here that over 4,000 doctor posts are lying vacant in several Government hospitals in the State.
