Nation First News: In a bid to increase attendance in schools, the Odisha Government has decided to provide conveyance allowance to school children. 966 schools in the State would be shut down for very poor attendance of less than 10%. Those students will be transferred to other schools in the vicinity. All students whose houses are located at a distance of more than one km, will be eligible for conveyance allowance.
Students having above 75% attendance, will get Rs 600 per month allowance, while those with 50%-74% attendance will get Rs 400 per month. Students with 30%-49% attendance, will get Rs 300 per month. There will be no allowances for students with less than 30% attendance.
The money will be transferred to the parents’ bank accounts. It was informed by School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
