Nation First News: At least 7 TV Channels have placed their bid for the broadcast rights for Puri Ratha Jatra 2019 under the new guidelines. Odisha’s largest media house OTV has placed the highest bid at Rs 54 lakh, as per the reports.
Contrary to the speculations and rumours which alleged that the bidding process was introduced to benefit Kanak News, the channel placed the lowest bid at Rs 1.25 lakh.
Among others, MBC TV has placed a bid of Rs 36 lakh. Interestingly, the other channel of OTV Group, Prarthana TV has also placed a separate bid of Rs 10 lakh.
The News18 Odia channel has placed a bid of Rs 15 lakh, followed by Kalinga TV (Rs 10 lakh). Sadhna TV, the lone non-Odia channel to participate in the bidding process, placed a bid of Rs 4,44,444.44.
The SJTA will take a final decision tomorrow. However, as OTV is way ahead of others in bidding, it may win the race. While DD will have free broadcasting rights, only one private TV channel will get the rights by paying the bidding amount.
