Sonia Gandhi appointed as interim Congress Chief


Nation First News:   The Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Saturday named UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi as party’s interim chief.

Following the meeting held at the party headquarters today, the party’s 54-member apex body had decided to appoint Sonia Gandhi as new interim president for Congress party.

Earlier today, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had excused themselves from the zonal body meetings, saying they cannot be part of the selection process.

Though senior CWC members had repeatedly approached Rahul Gandhi with this request, he had declined.
