Nation First News: The Centre has decided to set up plastic parks across the country during the 2019-20 fiscal year.
Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, D.V. Sadananda Gowda in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, stated that there is a scheme in place to establish Plastic Parks across the country.
In phase-I, four Plastic parks in the States of Assam (Tinsukia), Madhya Pradesh (Raisen), Odisha (Jagatsinghpur) & Tamil Nadu (Thiruvallur) are approved for implementation till 2019-20.
In Odisha, the Plastic Park, having infrastructure to facilitate investments by micro, small, medium and large units, will come up near the Paradip Refinery for which the Central Government will provide a grant of Rs 40 crore for the project.
In Phase-II, two plastic parks in the States of Jharkhand (Deogarh) and Madhya Pradesh (Bilaua) have been given ‘final approval’ in 2018-19 based on merits and examination of completed DPRs.
The Minister further stated that the Scheme will provide building common infrastructure to support the plastic production units for hazardous waste management, non-destructive material testing, incubation, training, warehousing, plastic recycling, tooling, designing, Research & Development, plastic waste recycling etc. and establishment of effluent treatment plant, to ensure environmentally sustainable growth through innovative methods of waste management, recycling, etc, Gowda added.
The centre will also train students through various diplomas, post-graduate diploma and other skill-oriented vocational training programmes in Plastic Processing Technologies.
