Nation First News: Cyclone Vayu, a cyclonic storm that formed over the Arabian Sea near Lakshadweep islands, has intensified into deep depression on Monday. It is likely to strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours while heading north-northwestwards towards Gujarat coast.
DDGM, IMD Mumbai, KS Hosalikar informed that Mumbai will also be affected by Cyclone Vayu but not severely. Cyclone is expected to cross from 250-300 km away, parallel to the Mumbai coast tomorrow, early morning.
It is likely to cross the Gujarat coast early morning on June 13.
IMD has issued an “orange” alert, indicating that it does not expect the storm to cause much damage on land.
A cyclonic warning has been issued for fishermen & people living near the coastline.
