NFN Bureau: The News Broadcasters Federation (NBF), largest-ever association that represents both National and Regional broadcasters, has threatened to challenge the “monopoly” of Delhi Media.

NBF, an association of 78 channels in 14 languages, has elected Republic TV Editor Arnab Goswami as its Governing Board President. It spreads over 25 States.

The new self-regulatory organization will be announced officially by the end of January 2020. “For far too long a clutch of Delhi-based channels have falsely claimed to represent Indian broadcasting. NBF will change that, for good,” said Arnab Goswami.

The NBF has also named 4 Vice Presidents with a woman, OTV Chief Jagi Mangat Panda leading the charge. Shankar Bala (Fourth Dimension Media), Sanjive Narain (Prag News) and Kartikeya Sharma (ITV Network) are the other Vice Presidents.

The founder members of NBF include Republic Media Network, Puthiyathalaimurai (Tamil Nadu), V6 News (Telangana), OTV (Odisha), IBC24 (MP and Chhattisgarh), TV9 Bharatvarsh, Newslive and Northeast Live (Assam and Northeast), First India News (Rajasthan), Kolkata TV (West Bengal), CVR News (AP and Telangana) and Polimer News (Tamil Nadu).
