Nation First News: Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan who was instrumental in India’s victory over Australia with a magnificent hundred in the last match, has been ruled out of the Cricket World Cup 2019 with a fractured thumb. Dhawan did not field in the match against Australia.
Either Rishabh Pant or Shreyas Iyer may replace Dhawan, who may still return to the team if he recovers on time and India advance to the semifinals.
As of now, India will miss the services of Dhawan in the match against New Zealand on June 13, Pakistan on June 16, Afghanistan on June 22, West Indies on June 27, England on June 30, Bangladesh on July 2 and Sri Lanka on July 6. Semifinals will be held on July 9 and 11, while the World Cup final will be held on July 14.
