NF Bureau: The Congress Party, which is always accused of dynasty politics, has drawn flak in Odisha after it gave tickets to at least 3 Father-Son duo in 2019 Elections. Sons of Senior leaders Narasingha Mishra, Bhakta Charan Das and George Tirkey got the nod to contest the polls, along with their respective fathers from the same constituencies.
Seasoned politician and former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das, who has a real chance of winning this time, is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Kalahandi Parliamentary Constituency. His son Sagar Charan Das has been fielded from Bhawanipatna assembly segment.
Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly, who had earlier hinted that he won’t contest the polls in 2019, has made a u-turn and is contesting from Bolangir assembly seat this time too. His son Samarendra Mishra has been fielded from Bolangir Lok Sabha seat.
Four-time MLA George Tirkey, who is known for changing several parties in the last few years, had joined the Congress in September 2018. He is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Sundargarh, while his son Rohit Joseph Tirkey has been fielded from Biramitrapur assembly seat.
*** Former Odisha CM Hemananda Biswal’s daughters Sunita Biswal (Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat) and Amita Biswal (Sundargarh Assembly seat) are in the fray this time. Sunita is contesting the polls on a BJD ticket, while Amita is contesting on Congress ticket. PCC President Niranjan Patnaik and Former PCC President Jayadev Jena’s sons are ticket aspirants this time.
